COVID-19 Update
What you need to Know

Symptoms

Monitor your health and stay home if you feel unwell.

Vaccination

Get your vaccines and boosters. We are working to bring pop-up clinics back to CNC.

Mask use

Wear your mask in all indoor locations. You can have your mask off if you’re steadily eating or drinking (like during a meal). But if you’re sipping a drink or nibbling a snack, put your mask back on between sips/bites.

Eating and drinking

Eating is no longer permitted in classrooms except for a designated break when everyone is eating.

Mental Health

Tend to your mental health. Students can call Here2talk at 1-877-857-3397. Staff can call Homewood Health at 1-800-663-1142.

Omicron variant

We continue to follow the public health advice given to us by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry. The Omicron variant has become the dominant variant circulating in the province. Dr. Henry notes transmission of COVID-19 in educational settings on campus continues to be uncommon and is lower than other sectors.

Monitoring one’s health

Please monitor your health every day before coming to a CNC campus.  Please do not come to campus if you are sick. If you have symptoms including a new fever or cough, you should also self-isolate and seek medical advice as soon as possible.

Visit the province’s COVID-19 portal for an assessment tool at https://bc.thrive.health/, find more at https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/ or please call 8-1-1 to speak with a registered nurse.

Mask use at CNC

We will do more to draw attention to the need for mask use throughout CNC as part of provincial health orders. Mask use is required in all indoor public spaces at CNC. Instructors or anyone presenting to the class may remove their masks when instructing or presenting if they are physically distanced from closest individual.

The BC Centre for Disease control reports all types of masks help reduce the transmission of COVID-19 when they fit comfortably over the mouth and nose with no gaps around the face. We’re continuing to distribute three-layer disposable masks.

Please note:

  • You can have your mask off if you’re steadily eating or drinking (like having a meal). But if you’re sipping a drink or nibbling a snack over a longer period, put your mask back on between sips/bites.
  • Eating is no longer permitted in classrooms except for a designated break when everyone is eating.
  • If you’re bringing a drink into a classroom, keep your mask on between sips.

Vaccination for COVID-19

Registration and appointment booking for the COVID-19 vaccine are still available, and boosters are now broadly available. You can register online or by calling 1-833-838-2323. We are also working to bring back pop-up vaccination clinics.

Mental health

The pandemic has been challenging for many people. We encourage students and employees to seek the resources they need to help them.

  • Students can visit Here2Talk or call 1-877-857-3397 anytime day or night.
  • Employees can visit Homewood Health for access to CNC’s employee and family assistance program. Call 1-800-663-1142 or visit https://homeweb.ca/
