COVID-19 Update

We want to update you that we are continuing with the start of the new academic year in close alignment with the BC Government’s Return to Campus (RTC) guidelines.

  • Orientation activities scheduled for Tuesday September 7th were developed with the RTC guidelines and have the required safety plan in place. Orientation is an important activity for incoming students, and the event will take place as planned.
  • We continue to follow the mask mandate for indoor public areas. On CNC campuses this order applies to all common spaces including lobbies, hallways, bathrooms, classrooms, and labs.
  • We are awaiting information with respect to the September 13th implementation of the BC Vaccine Card and its implications on CNC services. We know proof of vaccination will not be required to attend class. Further details are coming with regards to non-essential or discretionary activities to which the card may apply.
  • We know proof of first dose of vaccination will be required for students living in CNC Campus Housing. We are in contact with students to inform them of that and then seek the confirmation required under the provincial health order.

Yesterday, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced new restrictions for the Northern Health Region to deal with recent increases in cases of COVID-19. The new restrictions do not require any significant changes to the RTC guidelines under which the College is operating.

The pandemic is obviously not over and we will need to adapt to new provincial health orders. We are confident in our preparation for the new fall term, and will continue to take the appropriate steps for the health and safety of all members of the CNC community.

We hope you have a relaxing and restful Labour Day Weekend as we prepare for an academic year full of new opportunity.
