The CNC dental hygiene class of 2020 has outperformed the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board Examination’s nationwide average while maintaining the program’s 100 per cent pass rate.

The exam tests competencies in eight areas including responsibility and accountability, client and professional relationships, health and safety and practice management, foundational knowledge, assessment and diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. CNC’s dental hygiene students scored higher than the national average in all eight categories.

“CNC students consistently perform well on the board exam,” said CNC Dental Hygiene program coordinator and instructor Jennifer Scott. “This group of students, like all the cohorts before them, are highly ambitious and motivated to provide the best patient care experience.“

CNC’s dental hygiene program has graduated approximately 600 students who have gone on to work across the province, country, and world since the program started in 1987. In particular, Scott said the local dental community has remained a huge supporter of CNC’s highly in demand graduates.

“We’ve always had excellent reviews from local employers who actively look to hire CNC students after they’ve completed the program,” she said. “It really speaks to the quality of our graduates who are meeting the expectations of the community and, really, are some of the best dental hygienists in the province.”

CNC Dental studies programs include a one-year dental assistant certificate and two-year dental hygiene diploma.
