The College of New Caledonia (CNC) will celebrate the success of its graduating class of 2020 at a virtual convocation ceremony June 25.
The ceremony will feature messages from CNC Administration, Board of Governors, community dignitaries, and student speakers. CNC students who registered for the virtual convocation ceremony will be recognized in their program areas with a personalized slide featuring their name, photo, and any messages they wished to give.
“CNC takes great pride in bringing people and potential together,” said CNC Board of Governors Chair Gil Malfair. “Though COVID-19 has challenged our understanding of what it means to gather together, I’m pleased we are still able to recognize the accomplishments of CNC students at a virtual convocation ceremony.”
The virtual convocation ceremony premieres at 11 a.m. on June 25 on cnc.bc.ca/convocation. A virtual convocation program with the names of every CNC graduate will also be available on the same page along with an on-demand version of the ceremony following the premiere.
The community can use the hashtag #cncgrad2020 on Instagram and Twitter to have photos and messages featured on the CNC Virtual Convocation Tweet Wall that will be live on cnc.bc.ca/convocation from Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26.
“The CNC graduates have persevered to reach a major milestone in their educational journey”, said CNC President Dennis Johnson. “Though we cannot gather as we normally would, we are excited to celebrate online with the graduating class of 2020.”
Graduating students join a cohort of more than 100,000 CNC alumni spanning the College’s 50-year history. Any student graduating in 2020 will also be invited to walk across the stage at CNC’s 2021 convocation ceremony next year.
