COVID-19 Update 6
2020 Convocation Ceremonies Cancelled

Reaching a milestone like Convocation is a tremendous achievement. I know this success comes from years of hard work, perseverance, commitment and determination. Over the past fifty years CNC staff have taken great pride in celebrating with many students during annual Convocation ceremonies, and it is regrettable that Quesnel and Prince George 2020 ceremonies will be cancelled.

Thoughtful consideration was given to the current global Coronavirus pandemic, and direction from Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer, prohibiting gatherings of people in excess of 50 people until May 30, 2020, which could also be extended into June.

The decision to cancel was not taken lightly, safety was a key factor in the decision making process.  I know this is a disappointment for you and I do understand that this is a special time for you and your family members.  I do want you to know that we are proud of you and your accomplishments and it is difficult for us not to have the opportunity to celebrate with you and recognize your success in our annual ceremonies. The Convocation committee will meet this week and further details will be provided as they are available.

The CNC Convocation committee is meeting to plan alternate ways to acknowledge our graduates' achievements this year.  Further details will be provided as they are available.

 Intersession 2020

Given the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, CNC has developed an approach for the 2020 Intersession that aligns with the current COVID-19 health precautions. Students will continue their education in a way that acknowledges the current adjustments required for community safety. CNC has committed to maintaining the scheduled intersession start and finish dates of May 11, 2020 to July 30, 2020.  Academic courses will be delivered through alternate delivery with an asynchronous scheduling format whenever possible.  All courses will be delivered with no face-to-face requirements and all student support services will be available through remote access with no face-to-face requirements.  Resources and information for 2020 Intersession will be posted on CNC webpage on a regular basis.

Current travel restrictions and health concerns make it necessary to defer registering new international students to Fall 2020 semester. CNC will communicate with and support all impacted students.

Please take care of yourself and those around you during this difficult time.

President and CEO
