Letter to students from President Dr. Dennis Johnson:
Good Afternoon CNC Students,
CNC continues to respond to the fast-changing COVID-19 pandemic situation while following the directive from the B.C. Provincial Health Officer. We appreciate the patience of all students as we transfer to alternative delivery methods. This transition is well underway and most of you will have received information from your instructors or academic area.
This update is to inform you that in order to ensure social distancing recommendations from the Provincial Government are followed, we will be taking additional measures to reduce the number of people physically on campus while still supporting a high-level of services.
As of Monday, March 23, 2020:
- Most services and supports will be provided through a combination of on-line and telephone methods; we will not provide face-to-face services in most cases.
- The new service delivery methods will be in effect at the same time as students are engaging in alternate learning formats, reducing the need to physically be on campus.
- It is important to note that although campuses will remain open, we are putting in a number of enhancements to ensure social distancing, as well as, create a reduction in the number of people on-site at any one time.
This change in service delivery enables us to reduce density at our campuses and to promote social distancing, while supporting the health and safety of the College community. We are committed to supporting our students, staff and community through continuing operations, just in a different way.
This is the official communication regarding this change in service; please go to CNC website cnc.bc.ca/COVID for details and regular updates on how to access services either by telephone or online. Service areas will have signage with instructions on how to access services through telephones and emails. Students will learn of the changes through an all student email that will contain direction for accessing this information in the Student FAQ #2 to be published on cnc.bc.ca Friday, March 20, 2020.
Your cooperation and understanding as we transition our service model is appreciated. We are certainly in a time of change, and I know the CNC community is open to and will embrace a safe and healthy work environment.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dennis Johnson
President and CEO
