COVID-19 Bulletin
The health and safety of students, faculty, staff and other community members is the highest priority at CNC. In response to novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we are continuing to work very closely with Northern Health and are monitoring all appropriate health agency websites to communicate information as timely as possible as things progress. We also encourage you to practice “information hygiene” and examine sources to reduce the spread of misinformation. CNC has established a COVID-19 Emergency Operations Centre to discuss and respond to risks. This team will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates either directly through email or on our website.

At this time, according to the BC Provincial Health Officer, the risk of infection spread is low, however we all share the responsibility to act preventatively. Proper hygiene will help to reduce the risk of infection spread. Practicing proper hygiene not only helps to protect you, but also your friends, family, and the wider community. Please continue to follow these recommendations:
HAND WASHING:
- Frequently wash your hands using soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds, especially after using the washroom and before preparing food
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water is not available

COUGHING/SNEEZING:
- cough or sneeze into a tissue, or the bend of your arm
- do not cough or sneeze into your hand
- dispose of any tissues you have used as soon as possible in a lined waste basket and wash your hands afterwards

HYGIENE:
- avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
GATHERINGS & EVENTS, PHYSICAL SOCIAL DISTANCE:
- gatherings that exceed 250 individuals must be postponed, or addressed to accommodate BC Provincial recommendations
- avoid shaking hands with others
- maintain personal space when going about your daily interactions
TRAVEL:
- All international business related travel, including field schools and international placements, have been suspended, effective immediately
- People currently in transit, from international locations, will be asked to stay home from work and school for a 14 day period as per BC Provincial Government requirements
- Personal international travel at this time is not recommended by the BC Provincial Government
MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT:
- For CNC Employees: Homewood Health continues to provide ongoing support to all employees and/ family members experiencing anxiety or would like to speak someone about the recent Covid-19 outbreak. To contact Homewood Health for support, dial 1-800-663-1142.
