COVID-19 Update 2

The College of New Caledonia is closely monitoring the ongoing coronavirus situation and taking the appropriate precautions for limiting the impact to our campus community. We are working closely with public health officials and following their lead and direction.

The Canadian Public Health Agency has assessed the current risk for Canadians as "low."

A response coordination committee, made up of members from key areas of the College, is working to coordinate the College’s response and prepare for any cases directly impacting our campus community. Tyson von den Steinen, Director of Safety & Security is chairing this committee. At this point in time, CNC has no cases presumed or confirmed.

It has been reported in other places around the world that individuals have been unfairly targeted or subjected to discrimination resulting from a misplaced perception that they may be a carrier of a communicable disease based on their perceived disability, race, ancestry, place of origin or otherwise. Fortunately, this isn’t anything we’ve seen happening at CNC but would like to remind everyone that such behavior is not in line with our values and would not be tolerated. Please be aware and be sensitive to others that might be impacted by what’s happening around the world as we learn more about this health concern.
