To support and facilitate research and teaching within an indoor growing environment, CNC is installing a 42’ diameter geodome greenhouse at its Prince George campus just west of the 900 Block Building.

The project was initiated collaboratively by CNC’s Applied Research & Innovation and School of Trades and Technologies. The project is incremental to the current education and training offered at CNC. The greenhouse will be used by CNC faculty, students and staff, public, local producers, and technology companies to:

  • Research, develop and showcase emerging indoor growing technologies
  • Develop and deliver new training to students, local businesses, and the community
  • Support CNC’s cafeteria, Kodiaks restaurant and Professional Cook Apprenticeship program

CNC is a proud recipient of an Economic Diversification Infrastructure grant through Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT) for the CNC Research and teaching Greenhouse. CNC acknowledges NDIT’s role and contribution to stimulate sustainable economic growth in central and northern British Columbia through strategic and leveraged investments.

Excavation of the site will continue this week with the installation of the structure scheduled from Monday, Oct. 21, to Friday, Oct. 25.
