Suspended or Cancelled Programs

Updated Jan 22, 2025

Due to recent changes announced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) CNC has decided to suspend some programs. More details about the field of study requirement for post-graduate work permits can be found on the IRCC website.

If you were registered in one of these programs or were intending to apply to them, here’s what you need to know.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are reaching out to each affected student to help navigate your unique situation. If you have questions about your specific circumstances, please contact the International department at intl_edu@cnc.bc.ca.

This means that CNC is not taking new students into those programs at this time. Students who started their program before it was suspended can still complete and graduate from their program.

However, if you are a current student, we highly recommend that you work with a student success advisor to plan your studies. This is important, especially for our post-diploma students.

Programs that have been suspended must be re-evaluated by the College’s Education Council before opening again. These programs may be changed to better align with the labour market needs or removed from our program catalogue.

More information and updates about Post-Graduate Work Permit eligibility can be found on the IRCC website.

You can find programs that meet IRCC's requirements and are CIP-aligned on the International Programs page.

If you’re changing between post-secondary programs but studying at the same institution, you can keep studying with your current study permit as long as you still meet your study permit conditions.
