COVID-19 Update 6

Dr. Bonnie Henry, the provincial health officer, has advised presidents of all public colleges and universities to prepare for a full return to on-campus education this September. Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training Anne Kang has also released a statement.

We welcome Dr. Henry’s announcement for a full return for the next academic year. We appreciate the depth of planning this will require. As safety remains the top priority, we are beginning work now to plan for bringing more students safely back to campuses in the fall.

A major part of this project will involve revising our safety plans once the provincial go-forward guidelines are completed. Early in the pandemic, CNC developed in-depth plans for the College as a whole and specific programs.

We will re-examine and tune up those plans to adapt to a greater number of students. We are grateful for the work of many throughout the CNC community in developing those plans and will engage them again in the next steps.

We appreciate your patience as this process gets underway. We will continue to follow updates to public health directives and implement them to maintain the health and safety of students and employees. We will also provide regular updates on our http://cnc.bc.ca/covid portal.

Thank you,

Dr. Dennis Johnson, President and CEO
