COVID-19 Update 4

A message from Chad Thompson, Vice President Academic

CNC’s Education Council has approved the delay of the general start of the January term by a week to January 11th, 2021. The new date acknowledges the added stresses that students have faced in the past term. This change will not affect the start dates of professional and trades programs with unique scheduling or community partnerships.

The fall term has not been as easy for anyone. We have asked students to adjust to new forms of learning. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced everyone to navigate through fear, stress, and loneliness. For many, the added stressors have been exhausting.

I and my colleagues hope that an additional week off will help students recharge and be ready to see the pandemic through to the end.

CNC has more than 80 different credentialed programs. I regret we cannot change all start dates due to scheduling and external regulations in certain programs. Start dates for all programs are posted here; please check back regularly for updates

Please note:

  • The last day of classes for the Spring 2021, scheduled for April 23rd, will be moved to April 30th;
  • All academic and financial add and drop deadlines for both undergraduate and graduate students will be shifted later by five business days to accommodate the delay to the start of the semester;
  • Confirm the timing of Reading Break for your program on the accompanying schedule, and;
  • The exam period will be extended by up to one week, and take place from April 22nd to 30th

Please check the website regularly for any further updates. I hope this added time off will provide you with some small relief. I trust that we will all behave responsibly over the holiday break, so we can keep ourselves, family, friends, and communities safe.

Thank you.
