The College of New Caledonia has renewed its employment contract with current President and Chief Executive Officer, John Bowman for a five-year term through May of 2016. Bowman has served as CNC President since August 2006.
Ray Gerow, Chair of the College Board of Governors praised Bowman’s leadership in announcing the reappointment. “John’s first term as the College’s President has been very successful. Under his leadership the College has increased its enrolment, diversified its programs and services, enhanced our campus facilities across the region, and improved our overall financial sustainability,” Gerow said. “The Board is looking forward to implementing the college’s new five-year strategic plan and to our continuing progress with John at the helm.”
The decision to extend Bowman’s tenure in the president’s office was formally approved by the CNC Board of Governors back in January, but required the approval of the provincial government prior to the new contract being signed, which occurred Wednesday, May 11.
“It is a real honour and privilege to serve in the role of president for CNC,” said Bowman. “It is a very challenging and demanding job, but it also brings with it tremendous satisfaction in helping students, communities and our college employees to achieve their goals and aspirations.”
Over the next five years, Bowman says he will continue to champion the college’s six core priorities: student learning and success; responsiveness to communities; Aboriginal education; strengthening college resources and capacity; supporting people and organization development; and fostering innovation.
“I expect that our many partnerships with other organizations and communities, positive relationships with the provincial government and effective collaboration with all stakeholders will continue to be critical to the college’s continued success over the next five years.”
