On April 20, 2004, Exploration Place unveiled the Opening New Caledonia website, which includes images from the CNC-Blake Dickens Forestry Collection. There are 3,590 images of forest practices from the Pacific Northwest, with a focus on the Prince George area. The images range in subject matter and include topics such as silviculture, forest soils, entomology, pathology and forest ecology. Blake Dickens was a Forestry Instructor at the College and took these photos to enhance the courses he taught. The collection was digitized by students in the College's Writing and New Media Technology Program, with assistance from the staff at Exploration Place. An article about the student project was published in the Spring 2004 issue of the Forrex Link newsletter.

The Dickens slide collection of 3,590 images was digitized in two formats. Lower-quality JPG images are posted on the public website. Higher quality TIF images are stored on CD-ROMs (89 CDs, 40 images per CD, each image 17.255 KB). The TIF images are available to College of New Caledonia teaching faculty at no charge. Other users will be charged royalties and processing fees. Fees will vary depending on the nature of the order.
